April 20-22, 2023

Bass Master Elite Series (Marshall)

Lake Murray | Dreher Island State Park

Tournament Conditions: The weather for this tournament was almost perfect each day. Air temps were in the mid 70’s-80’s each day. Lake Murray was close to full pool and the water was mostly clear. I was able to ride along with some of the best anglers in the Bassmaster Elite series. Day 1 angler: Chris Zaldain. Day 2 angler: Mike Huff. Day 3 angler: Brandon Card. Each angler had their techniques which were eye-opening to see how these guys work. The fishing was great on the lake. I look forward to expanding my fishing skills to rise to the level these guys are at.

SC High School Bass Challenge Tournament

Winyah Bay | Carroll Campbell Marine Complex

Finishing position: 20th

#fish caught: 3

#fish weighed: 3

lbs. of fish: 3.31

Tournament Conditions: Mostly clear skies during practice & tournament day. Winds were light and variable with temps in the lower 80’s. Water temps varied but were in the middle to upper 60’s. The water level was up more than expected and super muddy in different parts of the intercoastal waterway & Waccamaw River. This was my first tournament at this location. The tournament fished very tough. 13lbs won the tournament. Most locals & some tournament anglers stated how bad the fishing was. This finishing position put me in 28th for the overall standings in the high school trail and I made the cut to fish the battle of the Carolinas!

May 13, 2023

Phoenix Bass Fishing League (co-angler)

Lake Murray | Dreher Island State Park

Finishing position: 93rd

#fish caught: 1

#fish weighed: 1

lbs. of fish: 2.00

Tournament Conditions: Mostly sunny skies with some clouds during the day. Air temps were in the low 80’s and the water temps were in the lower 70’s. Winds were light and variable. The water was mostly clear and the lake level was full. We fished mid to lower sections of the lake. We found some fish but after all the tournaments that have fished @ Lake Murray, it seems as if the fish have seen so many lures that they are a bit harder to catch than usual. I would have liked to have a better finish of course but this finishing position did allow me to move up in the overall points standing on the year. I still have one more tournament in this trail to try and secure a spot in the regional.

May 20, 2023

Battle of the Carolinas Tournament

Lake Murray | Dreher Island State Park

Finishing position: 24th

#fish caught: 5

#fish weighed: 5

lbs. of fish: 11.92

Tournament Conditions: Mostly cloudy skies during the tournament day. Air temps were in the middle 70’s with light winds. The water temp was low 70’s and the water level was a bit higher than the day before during practice. We had a lot of rain overnight before the tournament. Practice spots didn’t produce fish as expected but we did manage to find fish in some other areas. This was my first high school tournament with a 5 fish limit and double-digit bag. The top 30 anglers from the three high school trails in South Carolina fished this tournament so the completion was really good. Overall I am happy with my progress for this high school fishing season. Looking forward to next year!

September 30 - Oct 1, 2023

Phoenix Bass Fishing League (co-angler)

Lake Hartwell | Tugaloo State Park

#fish weighed: 5

lbs. of fish: 5.04

Tournament Conditions: Mostly Clear skies during the tournament day. Air temps were in the low 80’s with light winds. The water temp was in the upper 70’s and clear. The water level was significantly down during the tournament. The summer pattern was winding down and starting to change to a fall pattern. I was happy to land a 5 fish limit, however the one kicker fish I needed for a top 10 finish in this tournament got away! Overall it was a decent tournament.

October 7, 2023

SC High School Bass Challenge Tournament

Lake Murray | Dreher Island State Park

Finishing position: 40th

#fish caught: 1

#fish weighed: 1

lbs. of fish: 1.83

Tournament Conditions: Mostly Clear skies thru ought the day. Light winds in the am and winds picked up as the day went on up to 10-15mph. We had a front push in the area during the morning time. The water level was down about 4’ and the water was clear. Air temperatures were in the 70’s with water temps in the upper 70’s. Practice on Friday was good but the condition’s changed and the bait fish we saw had moved down & out of the pockets. We were able to locate lots of fish but they just didn’t want to bite. The overall tournament results were not what was expected thru ought the field. On to the next tournament!

November 11, 2023

SC High School Bass Challenge Tournament

Santee Cooper Lakes | John C. Land III Landing

Finishing position: N/A

#fish caught: 0

#fish weighed: 0

lbs. of fish: 0

Tournament Conditions: Awful conditions! Air temps were in the mid 40’s with light to windy conditions. Water level was down about 3’ and water was clear. Water temperatures were in the 60’s. Rain to heavy rain all day. We were able to locate fish but they would not bite the day of the tournament. Practice on Friday was decent and I was able to catch some keeper fish but could not get them to react the day of the tournament. There was a front that pushed thru the area and changed the conditions from the practice day. So far this year the tournament condtions have been less than favorable with bad weather & low water at all the area lakes. Looking foward to the next tournament!

December 2, 2023

SC High School Bass Challenge Tournament

Lake Wateree | Clear Water Cove

The water was clear to stained. Water temps were in the middle to upper 50’s. I had a decent practice and was able to find some good areas to fish. We were able to catch a fair amount of fish and have enough to weigh in and place 3rd in this tournamnet! Way to go! Since 6th grade this was one of my best tournaments! This was a good way to end the 2023 fishing season!
