Phoenix Bass Fishing League (Boater)

Lake Murray | Dreher Island State Park

Finishing position: 35th

#fish caught: 3

#fish weighed: 3

lbs. of fish: 6.13

Tournament Conditions: Weather conditions were favorable in the morning which gave way to clear skies and warmer temps as the day went on. The air temps were in the low 70’s during the morning and into the middle 80’s as the day went on. Winds were relatively calm. Water level was down about 2’-3’ maybe due to the potential storm coming. Water clarity was mostly clear. This tournament fished super tough for Lake Murray. The wining weight was 22-23lbs. which is a favorable weight. Practice for me in this tournament was really good but that didn’t translate over into tournament day. Just goes to show how good these guy’s and the pro’s that fish for a living are. While the results were what I expected, for me I think my finish against this level of competition is promising. This is the last tournament for the 2024 season for me. I’m looking forward to fishing a full season next year and what opportunities that will bring.

Phoenix Bass Fishing League (Boater)

Appling, GA | Clarks Hill

Finishing position: 5th

#fish caught: 5

#fish weighed: 5 Big Fish: 5.05Lbs.

lbs. of fish: 15.00

Tournament Conditions: Weather conditions were favorable. Mostly cloudy in the am with clearing skies. The air temps were in the lower 90’s. Water temps were in the mid 80’s most everywhere on the lake and the water level was mostly full. Light winds in the morning then calm towards the afternoon. There was also a boat parade on the lake so that added to the boat traffic making navigation tough too! Practice was awful for this Tournamnet for me. I had allot of trouble getting the fish to bite. But come Tournamnet day I was able to find the fish needed to get me into the top 5. I had to overcome allot of adversity and some boat troubles. One big thing to always remember is never quit! You have to keep your head in the game and not let the challenges that come your way bring you down.

SC High School Bass Challenge Tournament

Santee Cooper Lakes | John C. Land III Landing

Finishing position: 13th

#fish caught: 2

#fish weighed: 2 Big Fish: 6.98

lbs. of fish: 9.25

Tournament Conditions: This tournamnet was another super tough one. The weather conditions were favorable for the anglers but not for the fishing! The practice day & tournamnet day were super windy and made the open waters tough to fish. Air temps were in the middle 50’s at night and upper 70’s during the day. Both days were sunny and cloudy at times. Water temps were in the lower to middle 70’s. The fish we found were not on beds and in a post spawn pattern. Water was mostly clear and the level was near full. I ended up winning big fish for the tournament. It was a huge struggle to find fish and get them to eat. My big fish didn’t come until about 2:30 on tournament day. This is the reason why you don’t ever quit because you don’t know what can happen in a short amount of time. I finished my high school bass fishing journey with this tournament. It’s bittersweet knowing I am moving on to the next stage in my fishing journey. I finished out my senior year achieving a 3rd place finish @ lake Wateree & 2 time big fish winner and ranked 13th overall for the trail. I’m excited to leave this part of the journey seeing my progress and growth knowing what I accomplished.

SC High School Bass Challenge Tournament

(SC State Championship - Non points tourney)

Lake Murray | Dreher Island State Park

Finishing position: 40th

#fish caught: 7

#fish weighed: 5 Big Fish: 3.96

lbs. of fish: 12.51

Tournament Conditions: We did not practice for this tourney due to changing weather conditions. The water was still muddy in the upper lake and clear down by the dam. Air temps were in the 70’s with water temps from the 50’s-60’s depending on the area of the lake. Cloudy skies to clearing skies during the day. We had a equipment failure and it took a bit for me to adjust to the change in fishing style. This was a very good tournament for the anglers. The fish are up on beds. Overall I am 17th in the trail standings thus far which is an improvement from last year! I have to keep improving and find those kicker fish. I will say though, my consistency with bringing a full bag to weigh in has been a welcomed improvement!

SC High School Bass Challenge Tournament

(Phantom youth Tournament)

Lake Murray | Dreher Island State Park

Finishing position: 8th

#fish caught: 15

#fish weighed: 5 Big Fish: 3.49

lbs. of fish: 14.84

Tournament Conditions: Practice on Friday got cut short due to weather so we didn’t get a chance to figure out anything productive. Saturday was partly cloudy in the am then mostly sunny skies in the afternoon. Beautiful weather! I found and caught a good number of fish. The air temps were in the upper 70’s with water temps from the mid 50’s to mid 60’s depending on the side of the lake you were on. Water was also super muddy in the upper lake and lightly stained towards the dam area. Fish are on beds now but the conditions didn’t work to bed fish for me. I am happy with the fish I caught and the way I caught them. All I needed was a kicker bass or tow to get my weight up to the 20 lb. mark. Super excited to have two top ten finishes in the 23/24 tournamnet trail! I finished 19th overall in the Phantom youth Tournamnet.

SC High School Bass Challenge Tournament

Cooper River | Bushy Park

Finishing position: N/A

#fish caught: 0

#fish weighed: 0 Big Fish: 0

lbs. of fish: 0

Tournament Conditions: This tournament was super tough. The weather was partly cloudy skies in the morning to mostly sunny by the afternoon. The air temps were in the 70’s. Water temps varied by location on the river but mid 50’s was average. The tides were preferable for this tournamnet. The water was super muddy almost everywhere we went. Practice on Friday was decent and had some ides but the fish we found would not bite come Saturday. We didn’t find any fish that were on beds. We were on some wining fish but made some decisions that didn’t put us back on those fish! On to the next one!
